Grandpa

Wesley Martinus Barton was born in Salt Lake CityUtah, 8 October 1936.  He died 6 October 2010 at the age of 73 from complications relating to his third heroic battle with cancer.  He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Marjorie Thurgood, 7 children, and 31 grandchildren.  Wes was a builder of homes and a builder of people.  A faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Wes spent his life in the service of his fellow man. He earned his Eagle Scout and served in a multitude of Scouting and church leadership positions.  Most recently, he fulfilled a lifelong promise to his bride to take her on a mission for their church.  He taught his children to work hard and serve with love. All seven are happily married for time and all eternity.  Two of his sons followed Wes into the construction business and he was blessed to work with them until the day before he died.  If Wes learned that you were going somewhere, he would grab a piece of paper, pull a pen from his pocket, and draw you a map.  But the
greatest map he gave us all was a life worth emulating.  Condolences should be sent to the attention of his daughter, MaryAnn Updike, 11203 Jade HeightsSan AntonioTX 78249.  Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. with a visitation from 9 to 10:15 a.m. on Monday, 11 October 2010 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 6240 UTSA BlvdSan AntonioTX. 78249

My grandpa passed away on Wednesday.
He will forever be missed.
But I know that I will be with him again.
He is already probably spreading the gospel that he taught us all to love so well.
I'm so grateful for the gospel in times like these.

Families are Forever.

Love Always,
Ems
