Sister Jordynn Louise Alston

One would think that since I've sent off all my guy friends on missions, that I would be better at this. But I'm not.
The only redeeming quality of the month of August is that next August, I will get Jacob back.
As for now,
I hate August for always stealing my favorite people.

Tonight, Jordynn was set apart as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
We had a great drive to and from Casa Grande to talk, try not to cry, and discuss spiritual matters.
But it didn't change our goodbye.
We tried out hardest not to cry,
but just like the night of graduation,
the tears came, and we parted through our craffing tears (cry/laughing).

Jordynn and I were "sisters" on our stake Exodus trek my ninth grade year.
Since then, we've been pretty inseparable, and we've stuck to the title of sisters.
There are few who know and understand me better than Jordynn.
Few who care more about me.
Few who I care more about.
I love Jordynn for all that she's taught me.
She's one of the most Christ-like people I know and she has carefully focused her whole life on Christ.

I wish I could more adequately describe my love for her, but tonight, my heart is simply full and stretched taunt as I face the next 18 months without my sister/side-kick/best friend.
I know that she will be the most amazing missionary.
I know that there are people waiting for her who she will find, love, and bring to the gospel.
I know that she's chosen the best path for herself, and I could not be more excited for her.

But I will miss her so much.
I already feel the gap in my life.

But she'll be back.
Until then....

God speed, Sister Alston.
I'll love you forever.

One of Those Days.

It was one of those days when I just needed a friend,
more specifically, a friend who wasn't hundreds of miles away.
Cue Jordynn Louise Alston, superb pseudo little sister.
She picked me up, and we went to the temple to sit in the shade
and enjoy the company of one another.
It was precisely what I needed.

Incredibly thankful for the amazing people in my life.
Nothing changes a bad day like a good friend.

What I like about Jordynn.

Today is Jordynn Louis Alston's 

17th

Birthday.

 

Here are some reasons I love Jordynn:

1.  She will do anything for you. She is willing to give up her time to go on crazy adventures, or talk on the phone for hours, or visit a friend that she may not like but knows is important to you. 

2. Jordynn is a loyal friend. She does not believe in being two-faced and will tell you like she sees it if she knows it will help. 

3. Jordynn is caring. She wants to make sure everybody's life is going well, and if it's not, she wants to fix it.

4. She's a girl after my own heart- a hopeless romantic. When she's in love, everything is cute and wonderful- I love it.

5. She's my little sister. We have this bond and it makes us exactly alike. Sometimes it's a bit scary, but I love it.

6. Never Give up, never surrender is her motto. Cross country, school, friends. She won't give up on anything or anybody.

7. Geniusly artistic. Jordynn will be wearing the most adorable thing and after inquiring where she got it her response is, "Oh, my mom and I made it!"

8. Jordynn loves life. So life loves her back.

9. She knows how to party. This girl goes crazy and makes any party fun and wonderful.

10. Jordynn brings logic into my life. She is a logical thinker and won't just blame a person for something out of anger. 

I love my 'lil sis so much and wish her the happiest of days!

Funny Story:

So it was super windy with a possibility of rain that night but my father and I sent up the movie anyways crossing our fingers it would all turn out. So we cook the pizzas and chat and all the sudden-gaghom! Wind storm. Movie Screen blown down. So I send everyone inside to watch a movie and right as Spencer Smith and I finish cleaning up the electronics and screen, the sky clears up and the wind stops. Like really?! Only at my party. We enjoyed the movie indoors nonetheless. :)

Number Two: Connor's Farewell in Utah

Story First.

Sunday my mom wakes me up with this

"We're going over to Brad and Amy's to clean Brad's office because he stepped on a pitchfork and is going to the E.R."

um.... What?

So we went over and cleaned the office to help Amy get ready for the open house after church (note, bad idea to make open house RIGHT after church). And yes, my uncle Brad did step on a Rusty picthfork and it jammed right inbetween his pinkie toe and other toe and guess what? It became a staph infection. Hours before his son's farewell address. We all just figured he was hungry for attention.

Monday night we set off fireworks for my Uncle Bart's Birthday
