Sunday Thought: Father's Day.

I think it should be noted in history how awesome my dad is. Really, he's great. I'm currently reading The Color of Water by James McBride and as I read about how terrible Ma's father was, I couldn't help but be completely grateful for my dad.

Here's why. My dad is my number one supporter. I know that no matter what I do, he will be right next to me believing in me even more than I believe in myself. Take, for example, my {unsuccessful} run for Student Body President during my junior year. He helped me put together planning parties, hang up posters at six thirty in the morning, keep my morale up, and fight really hard {but unsuccessfully, again} for the election date to change so that all my choir friends could actually be there to vote instead of in California. And then, when I lost, I got off the plane from San Francisco and he gave me the greatest hug ever and told me how proud he was- it was never about winning, it was just about trying.

Now, as I sail off to college and hit all the nay-sayers who ask, "Well what are you going to do with an English degree?" My dad has jumped in the boat right along with me and defended my decision as well as encouraged me to pursue it with all the gusto that I posses.

And that's the one thing I can never thank him for enough- teaching me to jump into whatever I love with all energy that I have. I have learned, because of my dad, that there is no dream too big or far-fetched.

And that is why I love my dad.

Happy Father's Day, Dad.

I love you.

Love always,
Ems

Here's a little something he wrote for Father's Day
