The Perky Hello.

Today, I walked past this random kid during class. I smiled, said, "Hello!" and was greeted with a gigantic smile and equally as cheerful, "Hello!"

As I finished waking to my destination, I though of what a perky meeting that had been. I have no idea who he is, but it made my day that he and I had the same happy face as we walked to wherever we were going. And then I saw him after school, and it brought a smile to my face, yet again.

 I tried to have that same happy greeting with the other random people I walked past after school and I got coldly walked pass oh... every time. I guess everyone isn't as open to hellos... But change comes in small steps, right?

Give a perky hello to a stranger for me, will ya?

Sleep is an Inadequate use of Time.

I love my sleep.
A lot.
But As I'm sitting here thinking about the possibility of sleep...
I'm also thinking about just postponing sleep and being productive.

Well, semi-productive.
Like talking to my best friend Hannah who I haven't talked to in forever.
Or deleting all the people that I don't know slash don't like slash creep me out on my FB account.
Or editing my profile so I look like a normal human and not the weirdo I was a year ago when I deleted my FB.

Or I could be real Productive and...
finish my scholarship essays.
Or work on my table for New Beginnings
Or Get ready for School tomorrow.

But on second thought,
I really like my sleep.
So I think I'll just inadequately use my time and sleep.

Love Always,
Ems

None of my homework is due for two days.....

So I went shopping. I found these:

And I'm in love. I need to go do some retail therapy asap.

So here's a story to share. Today in English, we got a paper that was a clipping from Housekeeping Monthly in 1955. It was entitled, The Good Wife's Guide. It looked like this:

Now, I don't know if you can read it or not, but it's the epitome of the idealistic 1950's house which equals what I want, idealistically, my home to be. Yes, I know marriage isn't a walk in the park and it's not always going to be perfect, but the list above is what I want to be like when I run my own home (minus the lack of husband caring slash true communication). Anyway, when my English teacher opened the floor for discussions, I popped my hand up and said,

"This makes me happy!"

NEVER in my life have I heard such a uproar! I felt like EVERYONE jumped on my back and started attacking me. They all (being the girls in the class) started yelling, "Are you kidding me?!" "This makes me want to vomit!" "How could a husband ever expect that?!" And I thought,

"What in the name if Norma Jean is going on? Isn't a wife supposed to love her husband and adore him and want to make him happy? That's what I want to do- heck! that's what I'm going to do! My home is going to be as happy and well kept as possible! I was meant to be a mother and a nurturer and wife. And I fully intend on it, thank you very much."

I swear all the girls in that class think I have no self-worth at all because A. I'm not a feminist B. I don't plan on having a super serious career and C. I want to please my husband and nurture my children. But let me tell you, I know for a fact who I am, and what I'm supposed to do, and what role I will play in my family. I intend to devote my life to my family with no regrets. It's not that I don't think I can't go out and make a life for myself, it's that I want to make a family for myself. Family will always be the most important thing in life, no matter what, and I am going to keep that value strong in my home, because I know who I am, not because I've been told it's what I have to do.

Anyway, that was my minute of passion that never came out in class.... What do you think about this whole deal? I'd be very interested to know.

Love Always,
Ems

I love love.

I love old people in love.
And in general, love.
I love the rain that makes the world beautiful.
I love best friends who do crazy things with you.
I love that Mythbusters brings my family together.
I love love songs that I can sing at the top of my lungs.
I love people who make you smile no matter how sad you are.
I love that love unites people across he world, and in the same house.

I believe that love comes to us when it knows we need it. We seek for it, and yearn for it more than anything- we all do- and eventually, it will find us: either by friend, family, music, reading, or whatever form we choose to accept it into our lives. Oh, how happy is the heart that lets love in! Cherish this wondrus thing called love, because you never know when you will have to begin the search for it again.

Love Always,
Ems

Words.

Words.
Once out, they cannot return.
No matter how you try and fix them, they're said- forever.
Words.
They carry power.
They carry your intentions- sometimes ruining those intentions.
Words.
Sometimes kind, sometimes frustrated
Always carrying emotion- sometimes, too far.
 Words.
How I wish I could say some,
and take back others.
Isn't it amazing the power that our language holds? Sometimes I marvel at how much can be said in words, and how much goes unsaid. If only we had a tool to look into the heart of someone and completely understand where they're coming from. Think of how that would change the world. But as for tonight, I really do wish I could take back some words. Not mean words, just stupid words of frustration. I don't think I'm a very patient person.... but I do think I treat people kindly, which is good, since this post is so downhearted. I think next time, I will really think about what I want to say to someone. As for now, I'll blog. On a Friday night. At ten thirty. I rock my own world.

Love Always,
Ems

p.s. Look up Josh Groban's new song, Love Only Knows. Feelings of my life all wrapped into one song.

je t'aime

I love you.

Words, I find are hard to time and even harder to understand. There's a fear behind the words- the circumnavigation about these three simple words tries to copy the emotion without scaring a person away... But why? Why not say how you really feel?

Heartbreak.

Which is ironic, considering that love has the power to heal all heartbreak. All too often I feel we put up blocks of cinder about our heart, too afraid and weak to cut open even the smallest door and let someone new in. For without that door, we must sit alone in the concrete chambers of our heart, just waiting for someone to break our wall- but they can't. Only we can. We must build, and plant, and make life beautiful again by opening up that wall.

So today, I am going to speak those three weighty words with less fright. I'm going to open my heart to everyone around me, knowing they may hurt me, but knowing that the love and pain I'll gain, can only make me stronger.

I love you.

Three words that I'm no longer hiding from.

Love Always,
Ems

It's a Wonderful Life

I don't know how much better life could be today.
Not that I have some miraculous story of a knight on a white horse coming to sweep me off my feet, or even a Mr. Knighlty to sweep me off my feet. But ya know what?
I'm A-OK with that!
Because my train of life is tootin' along with a happy song in the smoke-pipe.
And I've been on a Christmas Music in the morn, and Country music at night, and it is a extraordinarily lovely combination.
I am, in general, in love with life.
I hope you are too!
And if not....
talk to me, I'll help as best I can.

Love Always,
Ems

Cabin Fever

Fact: Math gives me cabin fever.

Fact: English does not, because it is my love.

Fact: I shall major in English and not deal with math.

Fact: This song made me cry a little-bit when it came on my pandora.

Fact: I love life.

Love Always,
Ems

Life....Full Speed Ahead

This is a totally random post, but I'm kinda pro at that, right? Anyway, life has been barreling on faster than Buzz Lightyear. Last week I spent the entire weekend in Tucson at Arizona Girl's State. Probably one of the best decisions of my life. I met some amazing people and although I wanted to cry both Sunday and Monday night, the week sped up Tuesday and everything turned out amazing thanks to some amazing girls, the most amazing city advisor, and a long time on my knees.

Sadly, my camera is broken. Remember that? ya, so no pictures from Girls State. But I was tublr stalking one of the girls, Angela, and her tumblr just makes me crazy happy. She's so cute! Look at this pic of her and her boyfriend:
Yup, heart melting a little lota bit! Plus, he's Jewish which I find crazy cool and yup... So pretty much all my pictures in this post are from her at ayeayeangela.tumblr.com

So, I got home from girls state to a house full of extended family. Mmhh, I love them. We had Caleb's mission farewell on Sunday and then an open house and it's was so CRAZY. I'm sad he's leaving, but I know he'll be amazing and that these two years will be amazing.

Have you ever had those moments where you're just content with life?
Definitely feeling that way. I'm so happy because my family is the best and I love them all so much. Heck, my two older brothers even watched most of Pride and Prejudice with me last night till like one a.m. Granted, they tackled me into the beanbag after and tickled me till I couldn't breath, but you can't have your brothers always be nice, right?

I also love my friends. All of them. Especially Morg and Jess.
{Excuse the ancientness & oddness of the picture} We've had our ups and downs. MAJOR. But ya know what, we've all found out who we are and where we're going, and we've found our way back to each other- I couldn't be happier. They're the greatest supporters in my life, and I'm so grateful for them.

It's also really fun to makeup random blog addresses and then look them up to see if they're taken... and when they're not, I am happy. :) Try it sometime.

Summer makes my life wonderful.

I will start blogging better once I get back from EFY and Scottland, so be prepared.

Love Always,
Ems

p.s. I just realized blogger has a spell check... wow, that would have helped me out eons ago.

BIRTHDAY! {plus funny story, plus random, of course.}

NAMOI!!!!!
{aka as Naomi}
It was this amazing girl's birthday on Tuesday. So in honor of her, I have a top ten list of reasons why I love Naomi. {but believe me, there are way more than ten reasons why I love her to pieces!}
#1. She is an absolutely AMAZING friend. I know it seems like I say this with everyone but this is 250% true!
#2. We have PARALLEL lives! Not even kidding. When it comes to boys, when it comes to personalities, when  it comes to things we love to do, it's all EXACTLY the same!
#3. Her laugh. Kills me. Especially when she snorts... ha! Favorite. :)
#4. She's gorgeous! Did you scrutinize that picture up top? Um ya.... Hi amazing pretty lady filled with gallons of beauty!
#5. She's crafty beyond anyone I know and I'm so envious of her mad skill in all things pertaining arts/crafts.
#6. She likes to take pictures, and she's super great at it!  And she can edit her pictures like it's nobody's business. Fabulous? I think so.
#7. She has the fashion touch and taste that I most definitely lack. She can make things you never thought would look cute, look magnificent! Jealous of that too.
#8. Our inside jokes are the best thing on the planet.... haha. So many, so many. {magic pencil, string, fan clubs, Brad.... hehe}
#9. She will probably be famous one day for singing, cause she's super fly at singing!
#10. We always hug, and it's the best thing ever. :) And the best thing is to see Mr. Schreiber's face when we hug each other in Choral cause it's a bit smug and totally says, "I love how you meet your best friends in choir". It's makes me laugh. And then we walk through the orchestra room and get the most confused face from good 'ole T-dawg cause we're singing Lion King at the top of our lungs. HA! PRICELESS.

Pretty mush, I adore her to the ends of the earth. And if I was super cliche I would say she's me bffaeaeaeaeaeaeaeaeaeaeaeaeaeaeaeaeaeaeaea. Oh wait, I just did... Oh well, it's the truth! :) Love her to death!
 {love this girl!}
So now you want the funny story, right?
right. :)
Scene: MVT parking lot right after school, back row where Emma/Naomi/Josh always park. Naomi and Josh have just reached Josh's car and Emma is waiting the girls she is taking home. Ready, set, ACTION.
Naomi: I LOVE YOU EMMA!!!!! {she screams as josh backs out just a little as she's trying to get in the car}
Emma: I LOVE YOU TOO!!!! {flash the I love you sign. Naomi is sitting in the car with the door open, window down, leg on the window}
 Emma: Can I hitch a ride Josh?
Josh: Sure!
Emma: I think I'll just grab on the outside, ride all the way home, maybe run into that truck...
Josh: Hop in the back of the truck!
Emma: Oh ya! Ready, set, DIE! {motions fake jump into truck} You're really just trying to kill me Josh, thanks.
Josh: Ya, that's my evil design.
{Emma sticks her head into the car to see who is in the awesomness carpool}
Emma: Dude! fun carpool!
Naomi: Ya, we're the bomb.
Emma: Maybe I should go wait for mine... I'm giving Cali and Jordy rides home but I don't...know....were...they...are.... {scanning parkinglot} Ok, I think I'll jump off.
Josh: Ok! { as he keeps going}
Emma: Or I'll just jump off while you're moving... bye!
{Emma jumps off and completely falls to thr ground, sufficiently scrapping her elbow, and shoulder, but no holes in the cloths!}
Josh: ARE YOU OK?! OH MY GOSH I FEEL TERRIBLE!
Naomi: laughter.
Emma  through laughter/embarrassment and still lying on the ground: hahahaha. Ya! Wow, I'm cool! Ok, I'm going before I make more of a fool of myself! Bye!
End of scene.

Yup, that's what went down in the parking lot. I knew Josh was trying to kill me! ;) Needless to say, it was very funny and rather embarrassing considering that pretty much the entire population of Mountain View saw it. Oh well, It's nbd. :)  Pretty much, I rock at life. and I'm not joking. :)

And here is the randomness, I love the rain!

And I'm kinda in love with my David Archuleta/Taylor Swift/Michael Buble/Wicked/Into the Woods playlist I have going right now. Random much? Totally.

And I MEGA LOVE birthday baptisims for the dead as a new Naomi and Emma tradition. The.Best.Thing.Ever.
 I am content.
That is all.
Have a wonderful day!

Love Always,
Ems

So, here I am....

Oh the days of long hair.... :(
This was when i was reading Killer Angels for Block.

Randomness attached to an Update!

Well, I'm pretty sure this post was due about exactly a month ago... But here it finally is! Sadie's Day Activity 2010! SOOOO fun! We did Iron Chef and Aaron and I pretty much made the rockinest French Toast the world has ever seen-nbd. :) Sadly, we didn't win any awards, but we were cool with that because let's face it... we're just cool in general. Aaron is an amazing date and I'm so excited for our actual dance tomorrow night! BOOYAH! :) {p.s. I was pretending to be a cowgirl last weekend. :) }

Aren't we 'Cute as a button?' :)
Ya, we're the best. NBD.

Our Awesome team! So... I don't know what's up with me and thumbs ups.... sorry I'm a freak!

This is our Banana-stuffed muy delicioso French toast that won nothing.... And obviously, you can see why we didn't win for our plating job. But golly did it taste good!

mmmmmmkay. Meet the YUMMIEST Banana Bread in the world!
{it's the back middle plate.} Hannah's mom is officially the only banana-bread-maker that I like!

Sweet Childhood friend, Josh and Naomi.
Oh wait...
they have dead cat as their secret ingrediant.
They're kinda freaks, but I still love them. :)

Adorable Becca and her cuper tall date: Cookie. :)

ok... Naomi and I like to take weird pictures... like this and like.....

this. Yes, don't worry, i totally look like a creepster, I'm aware. But thanks for pointing it out again. :)

That's the day activity! Life has been crazy wonderful and amazing! We have a Masterworks concert on Tuesday and I'm super excited! Weird much? yes. We also had an orchestra concert last Tuesday, as in the second, and it went very well. And now we're doing The Overture to Rob Roy and I actully practiced today! WHA?! ya. what's this world coming to?
But here's frustration! Neither Youtube nor Google have Rob Roy Overture so that I can listen to it! Like really, how uncultured can you get, youtube?

But today Namoi and I chilled, had some good times at Sonic and Walmart and driving around with the top down. mmhhh. :)

It was most certainly a bun day today, cause I'm obsessed with buns! yup, love 'em.
This is actually a cute pic of us....

But this is what we normally look like. :)

And so here is the randomness:
Did you ever realize that men created lip gloss? mkay... let's think about this. Now the world makes sense as to why lip gloss always tastes so good! You selfish-men you! And this is legit! I looked it up on google and it totally was invented by a man! WHAT THE HECK?! So if you're a guy, I'd kinda be interested in your opinion! Gloss or no gloss? And if gloss, what flavor?
I honestly don't think that many guys read my blog...
but it you do, now is the time to speak up! :)

Love Always,
Ems
